Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress formation of abnormal carburization structure by specifying the contents of C, Si, Mn, Cr, Al, N and Ni, Mo which are the basic components in a case hardening steel used for parts for structural purposes.
CONSTITUTION: The case hardening steel is composed to contain, by weight, 0.1W0.4% C, <0.15% Si, <0.5% Mn, <0.35% Cr, <0.01% SolAl, and ≥0.0045% N and to contain ≥1 kinds of 0.2W5.0% Ni and 0.1W2.5% Mo and the balance Fe and unavoidable impurities. If necessary, ≥1 kinds among 0.0003W0.005% B, 0.01W0.15% Nb, and 0.01W0.1% V are incorporated therein. Since the case hardening steel composed in such a manner is suppressed in the generation of the abnormal carburization structure even if subjected to high-temp. carburization hardening, said steel has excellent fatigue strength, rolling fatigue strength and wear resistance. In addition, the time for the carburization is shortened by the high-temp. carburization hardening.
