Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the thickness accuracy by feeding back a difference between mass velocities before and behind stands on a basis of the law of conservation of mass as a correction amount for a rolling speed and compensating variations in tension generated by influences of correction at the back of a stand in all upstream stands.
CONSTITUTION: Thickness gages 11, 21, 31 and speed sensors 12, 22, 32, 42 are installed on the inlet side of roll stands 10, 20, 30, respectively. A difference between an inlet side and an outlet side mass flow of a stand 10 is calculated by a subtracter 15 and is inputted into a stand speed controller 16, which adjusts a work roll peripheral speed to obtain a required thickness in the stand 10. At that time, variations in tension caused by variations in the roll peripheral speed is restrained and compensated by adjusting a controller 3 of POR 2. For the stands 20, 30, a thickness is controlled by the same method to attain the target thickness h0. The thickness accuracy is improved because variations in thickness caused by changes of a friction coefficient, etc., are controllable.
