Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent leakage of light from the wall surface of a container, and eliminate the color mixture and decrease in contrast of light by covering the wall surface of glass container except for the light emitting surface with light shielding material. CONSTITUTION:A light shielding material 6 shields light leaked from the whole wall surface of a vacuum glass container 1 except for the light emitting surface 1a of a light emitting display device. The light shielding material 6 is formed by applying opaque or colored paint to the outer or inner side of the wall surface of the glass container 1. Or, the wall itself of the container is colored. Thereby, the light emitted from phosphor 4 is shielded with the light shielding material and the light is emitted only from the light emitting surface 1a. This invention is applied to the light emitting device of an electron-ray indicator tube type of a gas-sealed discharge tube type. In addition, a plastic container instead of a glass container can be used.

FIG. 2 shows a cathode ray display element as an example of a conventional light emitting display element. In the figure, (1) is a transparent vacuum glass container that serves as an arc tube, (2) is a filament that emits a cathode ray electron beam, (8) is a grid that controls the amount of cathode ray electron beam emission, and (4) is a plate that goes up. The light emitting display element configured in this way has a grid (8)
The cathode ray electron beam from the filament (2), whose emission amount is controlled by, hits the phosphor (4) at high speed and emits light.
The light is emitted from the light emitting surface (1a).
