Abstract

PURPOSE:To develop a ferrous amorphous magnetic alloy excellent in corrosion resistance and in magnetic properties by limiting N content to a specific range in a ferrous amorphous magnetic alloy containing Cr, Si and B. CONSTITUTION:High-purity Fe, Cr, Si and B are melted in an inert-gas atmosphere in a high-frequency furnace, to which iron nitride is further added in an N2 atmosphere to form a composition represented by the following general expression: (Fe1-aCra)XSiYBZNN, where X+Y+Z+N=100, 65<=X<=85, 1<=Y<=20, 6<=Z<=25, 0.015<=N<0.5 and 0.001<=a<=0.1. The resulting molten metal having the above composition is cooled very rapidly by means of a double roll, etc., to be worked into amorphous sheet. This alloy sheet is annealed in the magnetic field, so that ferrous amorphous magnetic alloy sheet excellent in corrosion resistance and in magnetic properties such as iron loss, maximum permeability, etc., and suitable for transformers, magnetic filters, magnetic shields, etc., can be manufactured.
