Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain the stable operation of a power converting device and an independent test of the power converting device, by a working and another power converting devices for the switching use of them and therefore absorbing the overvoltage without deteriorating the generating capacity of a fuel cell. CONSTITUTION:A working power converting device 2-1, etc. which convert the corresponding DC power into the AC power and supplies it to a power system 8 are cut off when a fuel cell 1-1, etc., are started. Then another power converting device 12 connected to another power system 11 is connected to the cell 1-1 via a switch 13-1. The switch 13-1 is opened when the voltage of the cell 1-1 reaches a steady level and at the same time the cut-off switch of the device 12 is turned on. Thus the transient rising voltage produced when the cell 1-1 is started is absorbed with no use of a resistance for voltage drop, etc., via a built-in capacitor. While the adversely converted voltage can be supplied to the device 2-1 via the device 12 when the cell 1-1 has a trouble, etc. In such a way, the overvoltage is absorbed without deteriorating the capacity of the cell 1-1. Then the stable operation of the power converting device is secured and also an independent test is possible with the power converting device even at a trouble time of the cell 1-1.
