Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of jitter by discharging the remaining electric charge of a capacitor for the rise of a signal input in a demodulator where the input signal is inputted to a comparator through the capacitor. CONSTITUTION:A carrier detecting circuit 8 monitors a burst input signal inputted to a frequency/voltage converter 1 and detects the carrier component to detect the input period of a modulated signal. A monostable multivibrator 9 is triggered by the rise of said carrier detection signal to output a pulse. A switching element 7 is started by this pulse to discharge the remaining electric charge stored in an input capacitor 4 of a comparator 2, which constitutes a demodulating circuit, in a moment. As the result, a demodulated signal free from jitter is obtained because the voltage signal given to the comparator 2 through the capacitor 4 has the DC component eliminated.

By the way, transmission and reception of bucket signals in a broadband network that transmits frequency-modulated data is performed in bursts, unlike ordinary video signals. For this reason, there is a problem in that conventional general-purpose techniques such as AFClAGC cannot be used as they are.

Therefore, when this voltage signal is compared with the reference voltage mentioned above using the comparator 2 to obtain the demodulated signal, the symmetry is broken as shown in FIG. 6(c), and the signal differs from the original signal. Such a problem is caused by a drift in the DC component of the output voltage of the F/V converter 1 due to frequency drift, and this problem also occurs due to fluctuations in the reception gain of the demodulator itself. As general techniques for dealing with such problems, there are AFC and AGC techniques that correct the above-mentioned drift using a time of about 100 msec, for example, and are widely used in video signal processing and the like.

However, when data is transmitted in bursts (packetized) in the network described above, the time length of the received modulated signal is, for example, at most 51.2μ, assuming a minimum packet length of 512 bits and a transmission rate of 10'Mbl)S.
It becomes Saa. For this reason, the above-mentioned AFC and AGC techniques have not been able to cope with the above-mentioned drift.

Therefore, it has been proposed to insert a capacitor 4 between the output of the F/V converter 1 and the input stage of the comparator 2, as shown in FIG. 7, to remove the DC component and demodulate the voltage signal. ing. However, as shown in the output voltage waveform of the capacitor 4 in FIG. 7, the DC voltage component exhibits a predetermined attenuation characteristic due to the time constant circuit formed by the capacitor 3 and the resistor 5. Therefore, in order to quickly remove the DC component, it is conceivable to reduce the time constant by reducing the capacitance value of the capacitor 4, for example.

However, when the time constant is made smaller, the time constant itself approaches the data bit rate, which adversely affects the demodulated signal as jitter. Therefore, stable demodulation operation of So:1 could not be expected.

The present invention includes a voltage converter that converts a burst modulation signal into a voltage signal, and a voltage signal outputted from the voltage converter is inputted via a capacitor, and the voltage is compared with a predetermined base L$ lightning voltage, for example. In a demodulator equipped with a comparator for obtaining a demodulated signal, the carrier signal of the modulated signal is detected, and the capacitor is momentarily discharged by a switching element activated by a pulse signal generated in synchronization with the carrier detection signal. It was designed to do so.

Thus, according to the present invention, when a burst-like variable mJ signal is input, the switching element is activated by a pulse signal synchronized with a carrier detection signal generated by detecting the carrier component of the modulated signal, and voltage conversion is performed. Since the capacitor connecting the device and the comparator is instantaneously discharged, a voltage signal from which the direct current component has been quickly removed is applied to the comparator.

Therefore, it is possible to demodulate a burst modulated signal with good symmetry without causing the problem of jitter caused by the time constant of the capacitor, and without causing the problem of DC drift.

The feature of this device is that a transistor is connected in parallel between both ends of the resistor 5 as a switching element 7 for momentarily discharging the capacitor 4. This switching element 7 conducts in response to a discharge pulse of 1 bit length, which generates a monostable multivib break (MMV) 9 in synchronization with a carrier detection signal from the carrier detection circuit 7 .

The carrier detection circuit 8 monitors the modulation signal input to the F/V converter 1, and detects the input period of the modulation signal from the detection of the carrier component as shown in FIG. 2(a). , MMV9 is triggered by the rise of the carrier detection signal and generates a 1-bit long culm pulse as shown in FIG. 2(b).

As a result, the voltage signal applied to the comparator 2 via the capacitor 4 has its DC component removed, as shown in FIG. 2(c). Therefore, comparison 2 shows that this DC component has been removed*1 from the signal to the predetermined base signal V

However, in the case of normal packet data, a brill signal for clock recovery is usually provided at the beginning of the data. Therefore, due to the dispersion operation of the capacitor 4 in synchronization with the carrier detection signal, signal loss of one to several bits at the beginning of packet data, for example, does not actually pose a problem.

It should be noted that the present invention is not limited to the two consecutive embodiments. In the embodiment, the explanation has been given regarding the demodulation of the FSK modulated 12-1 signal, but the present invention can be similarly applied to the demodulation of the PSK modulated signal and the AM signal. There is always something new in history, 'J,
The present invention can be similarly applied to a demodulator for two signals. In addition, by providing an appropriate resistance or inductance in the capacitor coupling part, the discharge of the capacitor at the start of reception of a burst modulation signal has a slight overshoot, and the residual DC voltage component due to the saturation voltage of the transistor as a switching element is reduced. It is also useful to apply a treatment that will remove it in a short time. Further, the switching element 1- is not limited to the above-mentioned transistor, and various analog switches can be used.
