Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable high-frequency operation of a magnetron by winding two coils around a single core in such a manner that they have overlapping inductances for an in-phase current and contradicting inductances for a differential current.
CONSTITUTION: Each of choke coils 7a and 7b consists of a winding 7 which is formed by bundling four enamel wires 7-1W7-4. The choke coils 7a and 7b are wound around a core 6 in such a manner that magnetic fluxes (ϕa) and (ϕb) produced by the coils 7a and 7b overlap each other for an in-phase electric current (Ic) (the noise current of a magnetron) and contradict each other for a differential current (Id). Due to the above structure, the skin effect of the choke coils 7a and 7b of the magnetron caused by a high frequency current is reduced and inhibition of the thermal radiation of the filament resulting from temperature increase is alleviated, thereby preventing any decrease in the life of the magnetron. Furthermore, it is possible to facilitate operation of the magnetron at high frequency in order to inhibit the noise current and prevent any reduction of the current of the filament.
