Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled film having excellent properties of an thermal resisting property, a moisture resisting property and a strength and a high coefficient of orientation of a dyestuff (Fdye) by dipping the titled film to a solution capable of swelling a polyamide or said solution contg. a metal salt therein, thereby controlling the prescribed coefficient of a polyamide-dyestuff type polarizing film to ≥0.4.
CONSTITUTION: The usable solution a capable of swelling the polyamide is composed of an acidic solution, for example, an usual aqueous dilute solution obtd. by diluting a solvent of the polyamide resin such as a formic acid, a sulfonic acid and a meta-cresol with a water. The concentration of said dilute aqueous solution is determined by a degree of swelling, when the polyamide film is dipped with said dilute solution. Said concentration is 10W80vol%, preferably 20W60vol% on the volume basis of the water. By dipping the film which is uniaxially stretched and is dyed with a dichromatic dyestuff in the solution, the Fdye value of said film increases to ≥0.4. the solution dissolved the metal salt in the swelling solution may be used as the swelling solution.
