Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent baking failure by providing the oil chamber of the upper case near its split surface with the lower case, mounting an oil pump at the intra-chamber lowermost section, and forcibly lubricating oil even when the quantity of oil is decreased. CONSTITUTION:The oil chamber 28 in the upper case 5 accomodates a reversed switching device 7 and the bottom is located near its split surface with the lower case 6. An oil pump 29 is provided at the bottom of the oil chamber 28 and mounted on a drive shaft 10. The oil pump pressurized-sends the oil of the oil chamber 28 to the ceiling surface through an exhaust outlet 30 and a pipe 31. The ceiling surface is composed of a cover body 32 and the oil sent to the ceiling surface is scattered to each parts. The oil shaft 10 revolves the oil pump 29 and forcibly lubricates the oil of the oil chamber 28. Even when the oil level is decreased, the oil is collected at the bottom since the bottom is let to fall near the matching surface of the lower case 6.

An inboard/outboard motor has an engine housed in an engine room formed inside the ship, and the power of this engine is transmitted to an outer drive unit attached to the transom to drive a propeller. The drive unit is equipped with a forward/reverse switching device for switching between forward and reverse directions. Since the forward/reverse switching device is composed of, for example, a plurality of bevel gears and a dog clutch mechanism, oil lubrication is required to lubricate and cool each of these parts.

In a drive unit in which the forward/reverse switching device is housed in the upper case, it is necessary to forcibly lubricate the drive unit with an oil pump since the forward/reverse switching device is located at the upper part of the upper case. However, if the oil pump is located in the upper part of the oil chamber, if the oil level drops, the pump will no longer be able to function and forced lubrication will become impossible, leading to problems such as seizure.

The present invention has been made based on these circumstances, and by forming the bottom of the oil chamber in the upper case near the dividing surface with the lower case, even if the amount of oil in the oil chamber decreases, oil will always collect at this bottom. This is a lubricating system for the outer drive unit of an inboard/outboard motor that allows for reliable forced lubrication by installing an oil pump at the lowest point on the bottom to ensure that the pump is immersed in oil to prevent problems such as seizure. This is what we are trying to provide.

To explain the forward/reverse switching device 7, 1
Reference numeral 5 denotes a transmission shaft that guides power from the engine, and is connected to an input shaft 17 via a universal joint 16. An input bevel gear 18 is integrally attached to the tip of the input shaft 17 by means of spline engagement or the like. The drive shaft 10 is divided into two parts in the horizontal direction for ease of assembly, and is connected to each other by a sleeve 19 so as to rotate together.
A reverse bevel gear 20 and a forward bevel gear 21 are each rotatably provided above the drive shaft 10. Each of these reverse bevel gears 20 and normal bevel gears 2
1 are both meshed with the input side bevel gear 18, and are therefore constantly rotated as the input side bevel gear 18 rotates. The reverse bevel gear 20 and the normal bevel gear 21 are spaced apart from each other in the axial direction, and have dog meshing teeth 22 and 23 on their respective opposing surfaces.
have. A dog clutch 24 is located between the reverse and forward rotating bevel gears 20 and 21 and is spline-engaged with the drive shaft 10. The dog clutch 24 rotates together with the drive shaft 10, but is slidable in the axial direction. When the dog clutch 24 slides upward, the dog meshing teeth 25 formed at the upper end of the dog clutch 24 engage the reversing bevel gear 20. It is adapted to mesh with dog meshing teeth 22. Therefore, the rotation of the input shaft 17 is transmitted to the drive shaft 10 through the input side bevel gear 18, the reversing bevel gear 20, the dog meshing teeth 22, 25, and the dog clutch 24.

Further, when the dog clutch 24 is slid downward, the dog meshing teeth 26 formed at the lower end of the dog clutch 24 mesh with the dog meshing teeth 23 of the normal rotating bevel gear 21. Therefore, the rotation of the input shaft 17 is controlled by the input bevel gear 18 and the forward bevel gear 2.
1. The power is transmitted to the drive shaft 10 via the dog meshing teeth 23, 26 and the dog clutch 24.

Thus, an oil chamber 28 is formed within the upper case 5. The oil chamber 28 accommodates the forward/reverse switching device 7, and its bottom is formed at the lower end of the upper case 5, that is, near the dividing plane between the upper case 5 and the lower case 6. At the bottom of this oil chamber 28 is an oil pump 2.
9 is provided. The oil pump 29 is a vane pump attached to the drive shaft 10, and is configured to pump oil from the oil chamber 28 to the ceiling surface through a discharge port 30 and a pipe 31 as an oil path. The ceiling surface is made up of a lid 32, and the oil sent to this ceiling surface is spread over each component.

On the other hand, the inside of the lower case 6 also serves as an oil chamber 33, and this oil chamber 33 is more independent than the oil chamber 28 inside the upper case 5. The bevel gear 11 on the drive shaft side and the bevel gear 12 on the propeller shaft side perform a pumping action to force the oil in the oil chamber 33 into the passage 34, and the oil sent into the passage 34 is transferred to a bearing provided at the upper end of the lower case 6. It is adapted to lubricate the portion 35.

In the embodiment with such a configuration, the dog clutch 24 is moved up and down in accordance with the operation of the operating rod 27 to switch between forward and reverse rotation, but the rotation of the drive shaft 10 is controlled by the oil pump 29. Since the oil pump 29 rotates, the oil pump 29 pumps the oil in the oil chamber 28 to the pump 31 through the discharge port 30, thereby performing forced lubrication. Even if the oil level in the oil chamber 28 decreases, the bottom of the oil chamber 28 is formed to be lowered to near the abutting surface of the lower case 6, so oil always collects at this bottom. Since the oil pump 29 is disposed at the bottom in this low position, the oil pump 29 is always immersed in the oil and does not rotate idly. Therefore, even if the amount of oil decreases, complete lubrication is maintained and seizure of various parts is prevented.

On the other hand, also in the lower case 6, the bevel gear 11,
12, the oil in the oil chamber 33 is circulated through the passage 34 to the bearing 35, thereby preventing the bearing 35 from seizing.

In addition, like this, Atsupa case 5 and lower case 6
Since the oil chambers 28 and 33 are formed independently from each other, if the lower case 6 is damaged due to a collision with floating objects in the water, or the sealing performance of the lower case 6 side is deteriorated, the structural However, the complicated and expensive forward/reverse switching device 7 is not adversely affected.

As described in detail above, the present invention provides the bottom part of the oil chamber formed in the upper case near the dividing surface between the upper case and the lower case, and the oil pump for lubricating the forward/reverse switching device. It is placed at the bottom. Therefore, according to this product, even if the amount of oil in the oil chamber decreases, oil always collects at the bottom, and as the oil pump is located below the oil level, it does not run dry and ensures forced lubrication. This can prevent problems such as burn-in.
