Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable an amount of ink to be detected even when a hot melt ink is used either in a solid phase or in a liquid phase, by a method wherein; a plurality of electrode plates are spaced a fixed gap from each other in an ink chamber wherein air is substituted for the used ink with the consumption of the ink and an electrostatic capacity between the electrode plates is measured. CONSTITUTION:An ink chamber 5 consists of; an outer case 6 of good heat conductive material, such as aluminum, iron, and the like, having an air hole 12 through which air is taken by the amount of the used ink, a posister which is in outer contact with the outer case 6 and a heating means composed of resistance heaters, and a plug 9 usually stopping a hole for supplying ink. The ink chamber 5 contains electrode plates 7 and an ink 11, and measuring terminals 8a, 8b are pulled out of the electrode plates 7. Furthermore, a head 4 is disposed adjacent to the ink chamber 5 so that the ink 11 is guided into the head 4 from the ink chamber 5. The electrode plates 7 of electric conductive material are spaced a fixed gap (d) from each other in the ink chamber 5 to form a condenser.
