Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a control capacity having the high accuracy of a torch by moving a welding torch, holding its position, optimizing a distance between the torch and a weld surface and controlling welding speed by the operations of three operating axes intersecting orthogonally with each other. CONSTITUTION:A welding torch 3 is moved alon an axis Y being the first operating axis, an axis X being the second operating axis and an axis Z being the third operating axis and also brought to an angle displacement around a turning axis 4 being parallel to the aixs Y. The torch 3 is installed in a plane containing the axis Y and the axis Z and the axis of a stylus 5 is also set in the same way. The position of the torch is held by providing the outputs of an X axis displacement quantity detecting element 40 and a theta axis potentiometer 28 to a subtracting circuit 41. A distance between the torch 3 and a material to be welded and welding speed are controlled by providing an output from a stylus detecting element 27 to an operating circuit 43 and from the output of a tacho-generator 49, etc., respectively. In this way, the welding torch can be moved with the high accuracy.

Problems to be Solved by the Invention In such prior art, when the angle between the corrugated portion 65 of the welded material 64 and the flat portion 66 approaches 90 degrees as indicated by reference numeral β in FIG. Controlling the torch 61 becomes difficult. Furthermore, by bringing the styluses 62 and 63 close to each other and reducing the distance d1, it becomes possible to detect the inclination of the welded material having a large curvature. There is a physical limit to the proximity of the waveform, and therefore it is difficult to detect the slope of a waveform portion having a large curvature, as shown by reference numeral 65a in FIG.

Means for Solving the Problems The present invention moves the welding torch by orthogonal first, tlII2 and third operating axes and a pivot axis about the first operating axis, and detects the position of the second operating axis. to determine the turning angle θr and maintain the posture of the welding Y-chi, and the second and third! The welding speed command vector in a plane including the pongee, and the added value of the direction cosine of the error vector of the distance between the tip of the welding torch and the surface to be welded in the plane with respect to the second operating axis, and the second operating axis. The second movement axis is controlled so that the difference between the speed of This is a welding torch control method characterized by controlling the third operating axis so that the difference from the speed becomes zero.

According to the present invention, the second and third operating axes of the welding torch are controlled such that the difference between the speed and the sum of the direction cosines of the welding speed command vector and the error vector becomes zero,
In addition, since the turning angle is determined by detecting the second operation@convex position, it is possible to accurately control the welding torch even if the surface to be welded has a large inclination or a large curvature.

given to 8. The tough generator 49 detects the actual speed (X) with respect to the X pongee and supplies it to the subtraction circuit 48. The subtraction output of the subtraction circuit 48 is given to a compensation circuit 50, which gives a signal to a servo amplifier circuit 51, which drives a motor 52 that drives the X axis. In this way, the welding torch 3 is connected to the motor 5 so that the output in the subtraction circuit 48 becomes zero.
