Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a homogeneous glassy carbon film having high dimensional accuracy by dissolving a thermally decomposed product of an org. polymer in a solvent, coating the resulting soln. on a heat resistant material, baking it in an inert atmosphere to form a glassy carbon film and stripping the film.
CONSTITUTION: Vinyl chloride resin, polyvinyl alcohol, oil soluble phenol resin, alkylphenol resin or the like is heated at 200W500°C for ≥30min in an inert atmosphere to produce a thermally decomposed product. This product is dissolved in a solvent to prepare a soln. having 200W500g/l concn. The soln. is coated on a heat resistant material and baked by heating at 800W1,300°C for ≥30min in an inert atmosphere. The coated film is converted into a glassy carbon film by the baking and the glassy carbon film is stripped from the heat resistant material.
