Abstract

PURPOSE:To move a rear group lens by a simple constitution, and to execute manual and auto focusing irrespective of a zooming operation, by executing an arithmetic processing by switching a distance display, a focus mode, etc., based on a photographing distance setting operation. CONSTITUTION:When an operation ring is turned, a set photographing distance is displayed on a distance display device 27 by a distance scale sensor 13, a microcomputer 18 of a control circuit 11, etc. On the other hand, in accordance with a set focal distance, a zoom lens is electrically-driven and moved through a lens control part 19. An arithmetic part 28 controls a movement of a rear group lens by a stepping motor 8 by referring to a corresponding characteristic curve of a storage part 30 corresponding to information from the sensor 13 and the control part 19, and even after the zoom operation, manual and auto focusing is executed. Also, when the photographing distance is set above the infinity, a mode switching signal is supplied from the sensor 13, a display of the device 27 is erased through the arithmetic part 28 and the rear group lens is vibrated and moved at a higher speed than that of the zoom lens by the motor 8, and auto focusing is executed.

Detailed Description of the Invention 3. Detailed Description of the Invention [Field of Industrial Application] The present invention is directed to a focusing device, more specifically, in an optical device such as a camera, a rear group lens is adjusted according to a zooming operation. The present invention relates to a focus adjustment device that automatically performs a focus adjustment operation of a focus lens.

As a focus adjustment means for still cameras, video cameras, etc.
There are two methods: one for driving the front group lens and the other for driving the rear group lens. The latter has two advantages: ■ The rear group lens is smaller and lighter than the front group lens, so it requires less power to move the lens, and ■ The rear group lens moves less than the front group lens, so it can be moved in a shorter time. can be focused,
■There are many excellent advantages, such as the fact that the helicoid for driving the front group lens is not required, so the manufacturing cost of the lens is low. Although the latter has many advantages, the former drive method is still used in cameras with zoom lenses (see Utility Model Publication No. 54-14496).

The reason for this is that in the method of driving the rear group lens, the focal position changes as the zoom lens moves during manual focusing. In other words, during autofocus, there is no problem if the zoom lens moves at a speed that the rear group lens can follow, but in the case of manual focus, if the zoom lens is moved while the rear group lens remains stationary, the focus position will change. This will result in misalignment.

Therefore, in order to solve this problem, we created a correlation between the respective cams that determine the amount of movement of the zoom lens and the rear group lens, so that when the zoom lens moves, the rear group lens moves accordingly. However, it is difficult to actually provide such a cam mechanism in the lens barrel because the configuration becomes extremely complicated. Further, even if the cam mechanism as described above could be provided, sufficient machining accuracy could not be achieved, and high focusing accuracy could not be obtained over the entire zooming range. Therefore, if it were possible to move the rear lens group in response to zooming even during manual focus without providing such a complicated cam mechanism, cameras with zoom lenses would have the advantages described above. This means that many rear group drive systems can be realized.

The control circuit adjusts the zoom lens position and the settings based on data regarding the positional relationship between the zoom lens and the rear group lens in the focused state at the various distances set within the circuit. Trace the rear group lens position in the focused state corresponding to the distance,
Depending on this result, a manual control signal is output to operate the drive means, regardless of the zooming operation.
To automatically drive the rear group lens to a focusing position. Therefore, even if the zoom lens is moved, the focused state according to the set distance at that time is maintained.

Furthermore, by rotating the operation display member to a predetermined position outside the above-mentioned predetermined range (for example, a position beyond the infinity display), the device is switched to autofocus mode operation, and the autofocus is controlled from the one-scrap processing circuit. The control circuit outputs an autofocus signal based on the signal applied to the circuit, and in response to the signal, the driving means, and therefore the rear lens group, is driven to perform an autofocusing operation.

FIG. 1 is a block diagram of a focus adjustment device showing one embodiment of the present invention. The focus adjustment device shown in FIG. 1 is applied to a video camera, and the imaging lens barrel 1 of the camera includes a front group lens 2° zoom lens 3. It has a built-in aperture 4, a rear group lens 5, etc., and while the front group lens 2 is fixed to a fixed part of the lens barrel 1, the rear group lens 5 moves in the optical axis direction for focus adjustment. It is now possible to do so. That is, as shown in FIG. 2, in the rear group lens 5, the pin 7a provided integrally with the lens holding frame 7 engages with the feed screw 9 connected to the output shaft 8a of the stepping motor 8. When the stepping motor 8 is driven, the pitch of the feed screw 9 causes the lens holding frame 7 to move the guide member 10 provided along the optical axis direction in the direction of arrow A or arrow B. The stepping motor 8 is driven by a control signal from a control circuit 11. Further, when the rear group lens 5 reaches the infinity position, as shown in FIG. The reference position (zero point) of The output of this zero point sensor 12 is the control circuit 1

This operating ring 6 is not mechanically connected to any optical element in the lens barrel 1, and due to its own rotation, the distance scale supported by the index 1a is adjusted to the distance scale sensor 13.
The electric signal is read electrically by the control circuit 11, and the read electric signal is input to the control circuit 11. The electric signal mentioned above is a set distance signal corresponding to a distance set using the distance scale as a guide.

The distance scale sensor 13 is configured as shown in FIG. 4, for example. That is, in FIG. 4, a conductive contact 14 is fixed on the inside of the operating ring 6, and the conductive contact 14 is a thin film formed on the outer periphery of the fixed frame of the lens barrel 1 along the direction of rotation. It is in sliding contact with a conductor 15 and a thin film resistor 16 similarly formed substantially parallel to the conductor 15. The conductor 15 is grounded, and the resistor 16 is connected to the input terminal of the control circuit 11. The operation ring 6 can be rotated to the ``auto'' position (not shown), which exceeds the ``close'' scale position or the ``infinite'' scale position. When the resistance value changes accordingly, the electrical signal input to the A/D converter 17 of the control circuit 11 changes in accordance with this change in resistance value. The A/D converter 17 A/D converts the electric signal from the distance scale sensor 13 and sends a digital signal corresponding to the distance scale to the microcomputer 18. ``Auto'' when the operating ring 6 exceeds the area where the distance scale is provided.
When set to the rotational position, the conductive contact 14 does not contact the resistor 16 but only the conductor 15, so that the conductor 15 and the resistor 16 are in an open state. The output signal of the distance scale sensor 13 at this time is an autofocus mode setting signal for setting the operation mode of the apparatus to autofocus mode. Upon receiving this autofocus mode setting signal, the control circuit 11 controls the stepping motor 8 that drives the rear lens group 5 through the operation ring 6.
Switch from manual focus to autofocus.

To summarize, the distance scale sensor 13 generates a distance signal corresponding to the set distance represented by the scale when the operation ring 6, which is the operation display member, rotates within a section provided with a scale. It also serves as a setting signal generating means for generating an autofocus mode setting signal when the operating ring 6 rotates and reaches a position outside the above range (for example, a position beyond "infinity").

The circuit that determines which one is in focus and sends a signal for autofocusing to the control circuit 11 is a known circuit (for example, Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 116007/1983). Further, a clock signal of, for example, an integral multiple of 15 Hz is inputted to the control circuit 11 from the reference frequency generation circuit 26. By inputting this clock signal to the control circuit 11, the control circuit 11 controls the stepping motor 8 based on the frequency of 15Hz.
A necessary pulse is sent to the stepping motor 8, and the stepping motor 8 is driven for autofocus or manual focus. As described above, in this example, the image sensor 23 itself is also used as a focus state detection sensor (distance measurement sensor) for obtaining an autofocusing signal.

The storage unit 30 stores a characteristic curve representing the appropriate position of the rear group lens 5 determined by the focal length and the bridge distance.
It is OM (read only memory). The calculation unit 28 reads the output of the distance scale sensor 13 input from the A/D converter 17, the output of the zoom sensor 21 and the output of the aperture sensor 2'2 input from the lens control unit 19, and stores the output in the storage unit 28. The appropriate position of the rear group lens 5 is calculated from the characteristic curve stored in the 30. Further, during autofocus, the output of the autofocus processing circuit 25 is guided and calculated. The output of this calculation section 28 is led to a motor drive circuit 30, and a step number calculation section 29 always counts the number of steps to determine where the rear group lens 5 is located. The calculation unit 28 also includes a distance display device 27 for displaying distance during autofocus.

At this time, the focal length is set by operating the zoom switch 32, and the motor 20 is driven by a control signal (i.e., manual control signal) from the lens control unit 19, and the zoom lens 3 is set to the desired position. Controlled by focal length position. Then, the position of the zoom lens 3, that is, the focal length information is detected by the zoom sensor 21 and read by the lens control unit 19. The electrical signal from the distance scale sensor 13 is A/D converted by the A/D converter 17 and inputted to the calculation section 28 of the control circuit 110 microcomputer 18 as shooting distance information set at that point in time. When the focal length information and aperture information are inputted from the arithmetic unit 19 to the arithmetic unit 28, the arithmetic unit 28 reads each piece of information and refers it to each characteristic curve that is the content of the storage unit 30. Then, when tracing the appropriate position of the rear group lens 5 from the characteristic curve suitable for the input information, the calculation section 28 sends a corresponding signal to the motor drive circuit 31 to rotate the stepping motor 8 to the appropriate position. let As a result, when a zooming operation is performed at a given photographing distance, the rear group lens 5 moves to follow the zooming operation in order to always maintain the in-focus state.

To put the focus adjustment device into autofocus mode, rotate the operation ring 6 in the direction of arrow C, as shown in Figure 3.4, and go beyond the "infinity" position to the "auto" position (not shown). ). Then, as described above, the distance scale sensor 13 issues an autofocus mode setting signal, and the signal is input to the control circuit 11. At this time, the control circuit 11 fails to perform a control operation for autofocus, and the stepping motor 8 is driven by a pulse having a frequency of 15 Hz as a reference from the control circuit 11.
are alternately vibrated in the optical axis direction along arrows A and B (see Fig. 2). Since the rear group lens 5 vibrates in the optical axis direction, the optical path length changes slightly, so the level of the high frequency component included in the luminance signal input to the autofocus processing circuit 25 changes slightly. The fluctuation waveform (modulation signal) of this high-frequency component becomes the minimum in the focused state, and the phase of the modulation signal is reversed by 180'' between the front focus and the rear focus, so the goldfish signal is transmitted from the autofocus processing circuit 25 to the control circuit 11. When input to the calculation unit 28, the calculation unit 28
gives a signal to the motor drive circuit 31 to vibrate the stepping motor 8 back and forth with the same amplitude around the focal point. Since this amplitude is determined in consideration of the aperture information, that is, the depth of field, the rear group lens 5 is actually in the same state as if it were stationary at the in-focus point. In this in-focus state, a display signal is sent from the calculation section 28 to the distance display device 27, and the distance of the in-focus point is displayed using a light emitting diode, liquid crystal, or the like.

When the focal point deviates from the focal point and a front focus or rear focus signal is guided from the autofocus processing circuit 25 to the calculation unit 28 of the control circuit 11, the calculation unit 28 converts the motor drive circuit 3
A signal is given to the stepping motor 1 to cause the stepping motor 8 to vibrate and step toward the focal point. That is, by applying a signal to the stepping motor 8 that vibrates with a large amplitude toward the in-focus point and with a small amplitude in the opposite direction, the rear lens group 5 moves toward the in-focus point. During autofocus, the speed at which the zoom lens 3 is moved by the motor 20 is slower than the speed at which the rear group lens 5 moves toward the in-focus point, so that the autofocus operation can follow.

As described above, in the device of the present invention, these operation modes can be switched by operating only the operation ring 6 for distance setting, without the need to separately provide a means for switching between manual focus mode and autofocus mode. In the autofocus mode, where the display of the set distance is meaningless, the operating ring 6 has been rotated to a position where there is no distance display, so the operator may misunderstand or feel strange. There will be no problems such as

Further, as shown in FIG. 8, the distance scale sensor 43 as a setting signal generating means has a 3-bit conductive contact 44 integrally attached to the operating ring 6, and a conductive contact 44 on the outer periphery of the fixed frame of the lens barrel 1. Each bit is composed of thin film conductors 45 to 4 formed along the rotation direction, of which conductor 45 is grounded and other conductors 46 to 48 are connected to resistors 51 to 53. A voltage Vcc is applied thereto, and it is connected to the input terminal of the microcomputer 18. Therefore, in this distance scale sensor 43, the conductive contact 44 is connected to the conductor 4 depending on the rotational position of the operating ring 6.
6 to 48 and the conductor 45 are short-circuited or opened, each of the conductors 46 to 48 is at a low level "L".
(ground) or high level @H'' (voltage vcc), and the distance scale is input to the microcomputer 18 as a 3-bit digital signal.
The distance scale sensors 33 and 43 shown in Fig. 8 have a 3-bit configuration, but in reality, in the telephoto (T) state, o,
It is desirable to have a configuration of about 7 bits so that the distance of sm-woo (see Fig. 6) can be divided into about 80 to 100. In this case, the above-mentioned autofocus mode setting signal also takes the form of a predetermined digital signal. Of course.
