Abstract

PURPOSE:To make uniform quantities of light emitted from laser diodes, by providing a modulator for outputting laser beam by modulating the beam, and a slitted plate permitting only primary modulated beam of modulated beam to pass therethrough. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of laser diodes 1-1n output laser beam respectively to a plurality of modulators 4-4n. A slitted plate 12 is provided on the output side of the modulators 4-4n to output only specified modulated beam to a print drum 13. The laser beam is outputted from a light-outputting part 6 after being modulated through a light-inputting part 5 of the modulator 4, the modulation being conducted according to a modulating signal 8 with an amplitude inversely proportional to the light emission output of the laser diode 1 which signal is inputted through a modulating signal inputting part 7. Of the modulated beam, only one of primary beam 10 is directed to the print drum 13 while the others are cut off, by the fuction of the slitted plate 12. Thus, the light emission outputs of the laser diodes are compensated for by the modulators, thereby making uniform the light outputs.

[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] Therefore, in such a laser diode head, since a common voltage is applied to each laser diode and a signal with the same pulse width is applied, the amount of light emitted varies depending on the characteristics of each laser diode. There are disadvantages in that variations occur and the yield as a printer head is low.

-2-' The tunable laser diode head of the present invention includes a laser diode that emits and sends out laser light, and inputs the laser light and modulates the laser light in accordance with a modulation signal that is inversely proportional to the amount of light emitted by the laser diode. The device includes a modulator that sends out modulated light, and a slit plate that has a slit that allows only the primary modulated light of the modulated light to pass through. , [Example] Hereinafter, a tunable laser diode head according to the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.

The laser light emitted by the laser diode 1 is modulated through the optical input section 5 of the modulator 4 and sent out from the optical output section 6. At this time, the modulator 4 modulates the laser light input from the optical input section 5 in accordance with the modulation signal 8 from the modulation signal input section 7 whose width is inversely proportional to the amount of light emitted from the laser diode 1. The modulated light is one-dimensional 10.2 in the vertical direction of the figure with the O-order light 9 as the center.
