Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize a small-sized switch which has a high on-off ratio of light signal propagation by inserting an optical gate part into a gap provided on a waveguide connecting an optical branch part to an optical coupling part. CONSTITUTION:Input optical fibers 81-4 are accurately positioned and fixed to input ports 101-4 to a waveguide circuit by fiber connection guide grooves 91-4. Output optical fibers 201-4 are also positioned and fixed by guide grooves 191-4 as well as the input fibers 81-4. The light signal of the input optical fiber 81 is inputted to a waveguide type optical branching circuit 111 through the input port 101 and branched by waveguide type optical branching circuits 111, 11'1, and 11'2. Those four branched signals are inputted to optical gates 131-4 and when the optical gates 131-4 are all closed, none of the light signals is outputted to the output fibers 201-4, but when the optical gate 131, for example, is open, the light signal is outputted to the output optical fiber 201 through light reflecting circuits 15 and optical coupling circuits 17'1 and 171 of an optical wiring circuit 14 and an optical port 191.
