Since the bumper is only supported at two points on the left and right, it is difficult to ensure vertical and torsional rigidity, especially at the center of the bumper, and it is also difficult to ensure that the bumper is strong enough in the event of a light collision at low speed. It can easily deform and damage equipment necessary for driving, making it impossible to drive.

The attached figure shows an example in which the present invention is applied to a rear bumper, and 1 is a bumper. Although not shown in the figure, the bumper 1 is connected to a frame, etc. via stays (or shock absorbers) etc. on the left and right sides as before. It is attached and supported on the vehicle body.

The reinforcement 2 has a corrugated plate shape as shown in FIG. 5, for example, and the inner surface of the upper surface of the bumper 1 is arranged so that the ridge lines of the peaks 2a and valleys 2b are directed in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3. The reinforcement member 2 is fixed by welding or the like, and the reinforcement member 2 is attached so that its front and rear end surfaces are in contact with or closely face the inner surface of the rear surface of the bumper 1 and vehicle body structural members such as the cross member 5, respectively.

Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 5, beads 2c are formed on the corrugated reinforcement 2 in the direction orthogonal to the ridge lines of the peaks and valleys, making the crushing strength in the longitudinal direction weaker than that of the body side, that is, the cross member 5. It has been done.

For example, as shown in FIG. 6, the reinforcement member 3 includes a horizontal surface portion 3a that is joined to the lower surface of the corrugated reinforcement member 2 and fixed by welding or the like, and an edge portion 3b that substantially follows the inner surface of the rear surface of the bumper 1. It is made of a substantially L-shaped plate material having a rib-shaped portion 3b having a shape of 1.0, and a bead 3c is formed to make the crushing strength in the front-rear direction weaker than that of the cross member 5.

As shown in FIG. 4, in the center of the bumper 1, a flange portion 1a is formed at the edge of the upper surface portion to be joined to a vehicle body structural member such as a cross member 5. Then, it is connected to a vehicle body structural member such as a cross member 5 using a bolt 4 or the like.

Note that the connection of the central portion of the bumper to the cross member 5, etc. is achieved by connecting and fixing the reinforcement 2 fixed to the bumper 1 to a vehicle body structural member such as the cross member 5, instead of directly connecting the bumper as described above. It is also possible to have a configuration in which

The present invention is based on reinforcements 2 and 3 as described above.
By providing a member which itself has a collision energy key absorption function on the inner surface of the central part of the bumper 1, and by adopting a structure in which the central part of the bumper 1 is directly or indirectly connected to a vehicle body structural member, the upper and lower parts of the bumper are The rigidity is improved, and the torsional rigidity of the bumper itself is significantly improved, making the cross-sectional shape of the bumper more stable. In addition, in the event of a collision, the reinforcement provided in the center of the bumper is first crushed and deformed, and then the vehicle body side members are crushed and deformed. Therefore, it is possible to significantly improve the absorption characteristics of the collision energy key, and furthermore, for example, 10
In the event of a light collision at low speeds of less than Km/H, the reinforcement provided in the center of the bumper prevents the bumper from deforming significantly and affecting driving performance, resulting in many excellent practical effects. It's something you get.

Further, according to the present invention, there is no vibration in the central part of the bumper when the vehicle is running, and the torsional rigidity of the vehicle body itself is greatly improved.
