Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase utilization factor of an active material to increase capacity density of a nickel electrode by using cobalt plated steel fibers as an auxiliary conductive material to increase conductivity. CONSTITUTION:Cobalt plating is applied onto the surface of steel fibers used as an auxiliary conductive material which occupies a large ratio in an electrode material. By this process, cobalt is uniformly dispersed in the electrode material and the surface area of cobalt is increased. Therefore, the content of cobalt to be added to the electrode can be decreased. As a result, the filling density of an active material is increased and a nickel electrode having large capacity density can be obtained.
