Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable execution of measurement and detection of angular velocity and acceleration of a navigational body with one unit, by providing a means sensing a torque generated by precession and a means of responding to linear acceleration. CONSTITUTION:A fly wheel 6 has an angular momentum (H) to generate a precession when an input angular velocity omegaIN is applied. The torque generated is received by a piezo-electric element 4 and flexure hinge 5 and an electrical signal is sent out with the piezo-electric element 4 in proportion to the size of the torque, so to speak, proportional to an input angular velocity. A detector thus integrated is rotated at a proper frequency as a whole and by so doing, an output signal responding to the acceleration and an output signal proportional to the size of an angular velocity input are sent out. In this case, the output is an integrated output of the acceleration and an angular velocity inputted into the main unit and hence, gives a sinusoidal output varying cyclically at selected revolutions.
