Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent occurrence of cracking due to residual stress, by adjusting temp. difference between outer and inner surfaces to a specified value while holding temp. in slow heating box when the surface of composite sleeve roll material is attained to a specified temp. at end of forced cooling in initial stage of normallizing, in its process of the material.
CONSTITUTION: Composite sleeve roll material composed of inner and outer layers made of tough material quality and adamite respectively is heated to ≥Ac1 point, then immediately, cooling water is sprayed to roll material to forcedly cool the surface temp. to about 450W500°C. Next, the material is laid as it is until the surface temp. is recovered to 520W540°C, then cooled as it is in air to lower the surface temp. to 450W480°C. The roll material is charged in slow cooling box lined with a heat insulating material, and held until the temp. difference between inner and outer surfaces becomes ≤25°C. In this way, the residual stress of roll material is released and the hardness of surface is controlled to ≥60 Shore hardness.
