Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain a cylinder stock having an excellent surface smoothness, by subjecting the outer surface of a pipe successively to buff polishing, degreasing, caustic cleaning and water washing which are indispensable pretreatments for a squeezing process such as pipe extrusion or the like. CONSTITUTION:An extruded aluminum pipe is cut into pieces each having a predetermined length, and one end of the each pipe piece is subjected to a curl bending process as necessary. Thereafter, the outer surface of the predetermined length pipe piece 2 is buffed by a soft buff such as cotton buff or the like together with an abrasive such as tripoli or the like. Then, die traces 4 intrinsic to the pipe are completely removed, but instead, a wax component contained in the abrasive adheres to the outer surface of the pipe piece while a machining affected layer 7 is formed on the outer surface. Accordingly, due to degreasing with the use of an interfacial active agent, the residue of the buff is removed from the outer surface of the pipe piece, and is subjected to caustic cleaning after water washing to remove the machining affected layer so that the outer surface is smoothened. Then after water washing, it is subjected successively to neutralization, water-washing and hot water-washing, and finally is naturally dried, or is dried by hot air to complete the pretreatment, thereby it is possible to obtain a cylinder stock 8 excellent in smooth surface.

When using this manufacturing method, as shown in Figure 1, an extruded aluminum pipe (1) is made by extrusion processing, and this is used as a starting material and cut to a regular length as shown in Figure 2. Both ends of the shaku pipe (2) are curled to form arc-shaped ends (2) as shown in Figure 3.
After forming a), ironing is performed to obtain a cylinder material (3) having a predetermined outer diameter as shown in FIG. 7.

In FIG. 1, (9) indicates the container of the extruder. However, as shown in Fig. 2, the extruded pipe (1) has many longitudinal lines (4) called dice on its surface.
When this material is subjected to ironing as it is, the surface of the cylinder material (3) used as a product also has a 7th
As shown in the figure, it has a fine vertical pattern (5). For this reason, it has been recognized that the desired surface smoothness cannot be obtained for the cylinder material (3), and furthermore, when this material is used as a photosensitive drum material, the problem arises that the clarity of the developed image is impaired. has been done.

That is, the present invention provides a method for manufacturing aluminum cylinder materials by the EI method, that is, a method for manufacturing aluminum cylinder materials using an extruded pipe as a starting material and ironing it to make a product. The treatment is characterized in that the steps of buffing, degreasing, caustic cleaning, and water washing are sequentially performed on the surface of the extruded pipe.

Therefore, in this invention, an extruded aluminum pipe is cut to a specified length as shown in FIG.
After curling one end as shown in the figure,
First, the surface of the regular length pipe (2) is buffed as shown in FIG. In the figure, (6) indicates a buff, and (10) indicates a presser roll. The buff (6) used here is a soft one such as a cotton buff, and is polished with an abrasive such as Tripoli. As a result of this buffing, the die lines (4) that the standard length pipe (2) originally had are completely eliminated, as shown in Figure 5, but they are replaced by the die lines (4) contained in the abrasive material. The wax component adheres to the surface, and a process-affected layer (a single layer of beil vinyl) is formed on the surface. Therefore, this buffed pipe (7) is then further processed in the next step.

Effects of the Invention According to the present invention, as is clear from the correspondence with the above-mentioned intended purpose, buffing, degreasing, and caustic cleaning are performed as pre-treatments for the ironing process between the extrusion process and the ironing process of the extruded aluminum pipe. By sequentially carrying out the essential steps of , and washing with water, it is possible to obtain a cylinder material with extremely excellent surface smoothness in the product after ironing. Therefore, it is possible to obtain a lightweight, low-cost, high-quality cylinder material with a clear developed image, which can be suitably used as a substrate for an OPC type photosensitive drum of a copying machine.
