Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect a leak in a steel tube and to improve the inspection precision by receiving an ultrasonic wave generated at a leak hole by an acoustic emission (AE) sensor when there is the leak in the steel tube. CONSTITUTION:The steel tube 2 is chucked to the heat stock 3 and tail stock 4 of a hydraulic machine and water is charged from the stock 3 to raise the pressure, which is held for a certain time. The AE sensor 1, on the other hand, is put in a case 5 and the water fills the space between the case 5 and sensor 1 and overflows covering the sensor contacting surface. The water is sent into the case 5 through a hose 10. The ultrasonic wave received by the sensor 1 is converted by a fine voltage, which is amplified by a preamplifier 6 and inputted to an AE device 7. A signal outputted by this device 7 is filtered by a signal processor 8 and envelope processing is carried out so that the signal can be outputted to a recorder 9.
