Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of a quantization error due to the change in the lapse of time by detecting the maximum value and the minimum value of a video signal which has read a white reference plate with a sensor, and detecting whether a difference between the maximum value and the minimum value is out of the range of an allowable value or not.
CONSTITUTION: A video signal VS is a signal that reflected light from a white reference plate 7 provided at out of the passing path of an original is detected with a part of a read sensor array 2, and it is amplified by several VS, then being outputted. A maximum value detection circuit 8, in which an operational amplifier 8a and a diode D1 connected to the amplifier 8a in a forward direction are provided, detects and holds the maximum voltage in a normal direction. A minimum value detection circuit 9, in which an operational amplifier 9a and a D2 connected to the amplifier 9a in a reverse direction, detects and holds the minimum value. The circuits 8 and 9 input the signal VS and output it to a differential amplifier 10. The output of the amplifier 10 is inputted to a comparators 11 and 12 respectively, and is compared with a prescribed allowable value. The outputs of the comparators 11 and 12 are inputted to an AND gate 13, and the occurrence of the quantization error due to the change in the lapse of time can be prevented.
