Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a printing device having high operability by displaying the name of a face only for a prescribed time, when installing an external storage means which has stored with regard to at least one kind of a character face. CONSTITUTION:First of all, prior to use of a printing device, a face generating external memory 5 of a face to be printed is installed to the device. When the installation of the external memory 5 is confirmed, a control part 4 reads out the contents of a name of a face stored in an address (a) of the external memory 5 through a connecting part 6. Subsequently, the control part 4 displays this face name on a display part 3. At the same time, the control part 4 starts a timer circuit 7 to measre for a prescribed time. The timer circuit 7 informs a lapse of the prescribed time to the control part 4, and the control part 4 erases the face name displayed on the display part 3. In this way, when the external memory 5 has been installed to the body device, the face name is displayed only for a prescribed period, therefore, it is useful for preventing a wrong face from being printed.
