Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an ink jet printer capable of being manufactured inexpensively and with favorable productivity, by a method wherein recording errors due to positional errors in heads are corrected by controlling the timing of electrical signals for driving the heads. CONSTITUTION:When recording in a line on a recording paper P is completed, a platen 1 is rotated by a driving motor M1 to feed the paper P in a longitudinal direction, and then a carriage 3 with integrated recording heads 4A, 4B mounted thereon is moved by a driving motor M2 along guide rails 2A, 2B in the transverse direction of the paper P while performing recording. The heads 4A, 4B are moved at a fixed velocity, and electrical signals corresponding to each dots of images are impressed on each channel of the heads in accordance with timing pulses with a fixed pulse interval based on clock pulses, whereby characters or images are recorded on the paper P. In this case, the errors in recording due to positional errors in the spacing between the heads are corrected by controlling the timing of the electrical signals for driving each of the heads. Accordingly, since accurate recording is achieved through control by a means comprising a delay part constituted of an electronic circuit with an ordinary component part construction, the ink jet printer can be produced easily and inexpensively.
