Abstract

PURPOSE:To elevate the responsiveness in a plate width control by comparing the detected value of a plate width with the plate width target value of the following stand and by performing a tension adjustment with calculating a plate width changing quantity and the target value of the tension stress to be given. CONSTITUTION:The plate width of the material 1 to be rolled is detected by providing a plate width gage 4 between the adjoining rolling stands 2, 3. The detected value 6 thereof is inputted into a tension target value arithmetic device 5, compared with the target value 7 of the following stand plate width and the plate width changing quantity of the rolling material 1 is calculated. The arithmetic device 5 calculates the tension stress target value 10 to be given based on the forecast value 8 of the material transfer time upto the following stand and transmits to a tension control device 11. The control device 11 then performs a tension adjustment with controlling a looper control device 12 or speed control device 15. With said method the rolling material 1 is controlled to the target plate width at the time of the arrival of the following stand 3. Consequently the plate width control of the elevated responsiveness is enabled.
