Abstract
PURPOSE: To form a cylinder in precise cylindrical shape by shrinking the cylindrical body obtd. by bending a short sheet and by expanding in cylindrical shape the cylindrical body after bending both joining parts to the inner side and welding said joining parts.
CONSTITUTION: The cylindrical body 6 in the shape of its both end parts being bent to the outer side more than the center part of the outer side face 6a and the bend starting part 7 and bend finishing part 8 of both joining parts being slightly expanded to the outer side as well as obtd. by passing a short sheet 5 in the gas of the driving rolls 1, 2, 3 and adjusting roll 4 of a roll forming machine. Said cylindrical body 6 is then shrinked with its compression by sliding divided dies 10a, 10b in the arrow mark radial direction and made in cylindrical shape. Both joining parts 7, 8 are made in flat shape, etc. and in the shape recessed to the inner side by the pressing member 11 fitted to the recessed part 10c formed on the inner peripheral wall of the divided die 10a of one part moreover. The seam part 9 of both joining part 7, 8 in said shape is then welded over the whole length. Thereafter the cylindrical body 6 is fitted to the outer periphery of a segment 15, a cone 16 is pushed in along the inner side slope face 15a of the segment 15 and the cylindrical body 6 is expanded.
