Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to prevent the adhesion of toner particles to an LED light emitting surface without bringing about the rising in the temp. around LED, by providing toner adhesion preventing members to both sides of an LED line so as to provide a gap permitting the flowing of air. CONSTITUTION:Toner adhesion preventing members 14 are provided to both sides of the line of LED3 between the mutually opposed surfaces of an LED array 1 and an image forming optical element 6 and, between the surfaces of the LED array 1 and the toner adhesion preventing members 14, gaps S for permitting the flowing of air, which is sufficient to prevent the peripheral temp. of LED from rising so as to exceed a predetermined tolerant range even by the heat generation of LED when optical writing is performed, are provided. By this constitution, the adhesion of toner particles to the light emitting surface of LED3 is almost perfectly prevented and, at the same time, because air rising in temp. by the heat generated by the supply of a current to LED at the time of optical writing flows along with the open air through the gaps S between the LED array 1 and the upper ends of the toner adhesion preventing members 14 and heat is escaped, the lowering in quantity of light caused by the rising in the circumferential temp. of LED is not brought about.
