Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the response of a building to earth quake and protect the building safely from earth quake by absorbing energy through shear plastic deformation of an elastic plastic material. CONSTITUTION:A shaft rod 3 is inserted slidably into a cylindrical outer tube 1 and provided on the outer periphery with a plurality of circumferential projections 4. And an elastic plastic material 5 is loaded in the outer tube 1 and subjected to plastic deformation by the projections 4 of the shaft rod 3 in the relative movement between the outer tube 1 and shaft rod 3. By this plastic deformation can be absorbed vibrational energy.
