Abstract
PURPOSE: To suck forcibly the gas generated in the stage of casting together with cooling water and to simplify a device by providing a vacuum device utilizing the flow of the cooling water in the mid-way of a cooling water flow passage of a casting mold having a cooler.
CONSTITUTION: A pump 9 of the mold cooler 8 is driven to circulate the cooling water in a water tank 13 through the passages 10, 11, 12 and trial casting is executed. The opening degree of the valve 14 of a bypass passage 15 is adjusted to adjust the flow rate of the cooling water flowing in the cooling water passage 11 for cooling the casting mold 1 by which the mold 1 is maintained at an adequate temp., then the casting is executed. A suction effect is generated by the jet from a water flow pump 21 of the vacuum device 20 when the cooling water flows in the above-mentioned manner. The gas generated from the molten metal in the cavity 5 and a core 7 is thereby forcibly discharged through the gas vent passage 24. The gas is incorporated into the cooling water in the pump 21 and is discharged into the water tank 13. The gas is taken out of a gas discharge passage 17. The release of the gas into the atm. is obviated if a gas soluble liquid is used for the cooling water.
