Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the time required in preheating, by supplying a pulse having a pulse width and/or potential smaller than that of a drive pulse at the time of normal recording to a recording head at a short cycle. CONSTITUTION:In preheating processing, a heating control means 130 supplies an electric signal having a pulse width and/or voltage smaller than that of the electric signal at the time of normal recording to the emitting energy generation means 100 of a liquid jet recording head 110 at a short cycle. A signal S20 has a pulse width smaller than that of a signal S1 at the time of normal recording and a cycle T8 (high frequency) shorter than that of said signal S1. A signal S40 has potential lower than that of the signal S1 and a cycle T10 shorter than that of said signal S1. In this case, a power source PS is constituted of a voltage variable power source and voltage generated by the setting signal PH due to a control part 1 can be set adequately. If the signal such as the signal S20 or S40 is supplied toward heads H1-Hn in preheating as mentioned above, the time required in preheating can be shortened.
