Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a brake holding solenoid shut-off valve from erroneously operating, by providing an inclination detecting switch for detecting an ascending slope on which a vehicle is running, so that when this switch is turned off, the solenoid shut-off valve is inhibited from being energized.
CONSTITUTION: A solenoid shut-off valve 18 is disposed between pipe lines 15, 19 which communicate between a rear wheel cylinder 2 in an LT type drum brake and a second hydraulic pressure generating chamber in a tandem master cylinder 11 coupled to a brake pedal 12. Further, there are provided a switch 9 which is turned on by means of an actuating element 8 when a pair of shoes 4a, 4b are made into press-contact with the internal surface of a drum in association with the operation of the wheel cylinder 2, and an inclination detecting switch 30 which is turned on when the vehicle runs on an ascending slope. Further, these switches 9, 30 are connected in series with respect to a solenoid 28 in the solenoid shut-off valve 18, and therefore, the solenoid shut-off valve 18 may be closed to effect its brake holding operation only when both switches 9, 30 are closed.
