Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for a specific monitor and complicated motor controller and obtain definite slow pictures without making any noise by using usual video heads by carrying out a satisfactory step driving in opposition to inertia occurring in case of a motor rotation.
CONSTITUTION: When reproduction is executed in slow motion mode running speeds of a magnetic tape and the number of revolution of a rotary head are controlled forward directionwise to 1/n times those in case of recording and reverse directionwise to 1/m times those in case of recording by using a control means. Signals of a magnetic head 2 reproduced in such a condition are preamplified by a head-amplifier 3 and are written to a field image memory 8 after performing a A/D conversion 7 by a 1/nf clock. Reads from the memory 8 and writes to a field image memory 10 as well as writes to the memory 8 are repeatedly carried out in a period of one field. And outputs from memories 9 and 10 are converted D/A-wise by a D/A converter 11 through a switch 12 and these converted outputs are processed by a reproducing luminance signal processing circuit 4 and a reproducing chrominance signal processing circuit 5 and then the definite slow pictures are outputted by using a usual video head.
