Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce necessary transmission capacity per channel, to easily branch and couple a transmit signal, and to reduce the circuit scale of a device by multiplexing a sound and a control signal together with a frame synchronous signal for discriminating the sound and control signals by a bit steal system for transmitting the sound signal and control signal. CONSTITUTION:The voice input signal (a) is converted by an 8-bit digital signal, which is encoded and sent to a signal coupler 8. Signaling input information (b), on the other hand, is converted into a digital signal, which is sent to the signal coupler 18 as well as the sound signal. This signal coupler 18 couples frame information from a frame pattern generator 17, the encoded sound signal, and the signaling signal into a signal sequence, which is sent out to a multiplexing part 12. The multiplexing part 12 multiplexes voice and signaling information of 24 channels into a signal sequence (d) of 1.544Mb/s (193 bits), which is sent out to a transmission line. A reception side operates exactly reversely to the transmission side.
