Abstract

PURPOSE: To elevate the vertical-way shape measuring accuracy for an internal defect of an object to be inspected, by switching a plurality of operation angle beam vibrators of a probe composing a vertical vibrator and the angle beam vibrators.
CONSTITUTION: An ultrasonic probe is composed of a vertical vibrator 1 adapted to make an ultrasonic beam vertical to a surface to be detected and a plurality of angle beam vibrators 2 so arranged that ultrasonic beams cross one another at positions different from the direction of ultrasonic beam from the vibrator 1. Then, one of the angle beam vibrators 2 is selected for transmission and reception of signals with a switching circuit 9 and then, the vibrator 2 selected and the vibrator 1 are switched properly with a transmission-reception switching circuit 10 to be used for either transmission or reception. So, an ultrasonic wave is emitted through the vibrator switched over to the transmitting position from a transmission circuit 11 and the received signal near the crossing position in the direction of the ultrasonic beam is received with a receiving circuit 12 through the vibrator switched over to the receiving position to be displayed 19 corresponding to sweep time information for display.
