Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a light leakage and to improve a contrast of the titled element by forming a metallic electrode for cutting off the light of a substrate facing a gap between dots formed by closing of the upward and the downward transparent electrodes.
CONSTITUTION: The metallic electrode 5 for cutting off the light is formed on a part facing the gap between the lines of the transparent electrode 2 at an upward of the transparent electrode 1 provided on the upward substrate 3. Similarly, the metallic electrode 6 for cutting off the light is formed on a part facing the gap between the lines of the transparent electrode 1 at an upward of the transparent electrode 2 provided on the downward substrate 4. Therefore, the metallic electrodes 5, 6 for cutting off the light form a black matrix for cutting off the light between the dots 7 formed with points of an intersection of the transparent electrodes 1, 2. Namely, as the leak of the light coming from between the dots 7 is cut off with the metallic electrodes 5, 6 for cutting off the light, the reduction of the contrast can be prevent in the high density pattern such as the liquid crystal television.
