Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 【産業上の利用分野】
本発明は、エンジンのシリンダブロックに関するもので
ある。
【従来の技術】
シリンダボア間に位置して中子支えを設け、シリンダボ
ア間が狭少であっても、この間にウォータジャケットを
形成し、水冷効果を得られるようにした技術（特公昭５
９−２５７８号参照）は公知である。 ここで問題になるのは、シリンダボア間にウォータジャ
ケットを形成するには、シリンダボア間の肉厚に限界が
あり、中子の厚さにも限界がある（最低ａＩＩｌ−程度
必要である）ことである。これは強度上の理由によるが
、また、中子割れも起り易く、この場合にジャケットの
有効性が確認できない点で、問題がある。
【発明が解決しようとする問題点】
本発明は、上記事情にもとづいてなされたもので、シリ
ンダボア間に水通路を形成しても、充分な強度保持が可
能であり、水通路断面を極力小さくでき、しかも、その
有効性が確認し易い構造のシリンダブロックを提供しよ
うとするものである。
【問題点を解決するための手段】
この目的のため１本発明はシリンダボアを並設したシリ
ンダブロック内において、上記シリンダボア間に位置し
て水通路用のパイプを鋳込み、その両端をシリンダブロ
ックの、シリンダヘッド接続面側に開口させたことを特
徴とするものである。
【実　　施　　例】
以下、本発明の一実施例を第１図ないし第５図を参照し
て具体的に説明する。図において、符号１はシリンダブ
ロックであり、シリンダボア２゜３．４と並んでウォー
タジャケット５，６が形成されている。また、シリンダ
ボア２．３．および３．４間には、一部を偏平に形成し
たく第４図参照）パイプ７よりなる水通路が、シリンダ
ブロックの成形時に鋳込まれる。上記パイプ７の両端は
、Ｕ字形に曲げられていて、ウォータジャケット５゜６
を経由して、シリンダブロック１の、シリンダヘッド接
続面１ａに向けられ、その上で開口されている。 このような構成では、パイプγ内への冷却水の循環は、
図示しないシリンダヘッドの冷却水通路から行なわれ、
従来のように中子を使用するものと異なり、水通路の有
効性が確実である。また、その有効性を確認するのは、
シリンダヘッド接続面１ａから、パイプ１の開口にエア
を吹き込むことで、簡単に行なえる。また、パイプ７自
体は、剛性を持っており、シリンダボア間の一度を維持
する上で有効である。 なお、上記パイプ７は、シリンダヘッド側の水通路に連
通されるが、冷却水量が不足すると思われる時には、第
５図にみられるように、開口端よりドリルＤを挿入して
、ウォータジャケット５゜６内でパイプｌに孔８を明け
、上記ウォータジャケット５．６から直接、通水できる
ようにしてもよい。
【発明の効果】
本発明は、以上詳述したようになり、シリンダボア間に
パイプを鋳込むことで、これをウォータジャケットに用
いるので、中子使用の場合と異なり、極限まで、通水路
を狭めることができ、しかも、その有効性が確実であり
、有効性の検査も容易であって、それ自体も、シリンダ
ボア間の強度確保に寄与できるという慢れた効果を奏し
得るものである。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. シリンダボアを並設したシリンダブロック内において、
    上記シリンダボア間に位置して水通路用のパイプを鋳込
    み、その両端をシリンダブロックの、シリンダヘッド接
    続面側に開口させたことを特徴とするシリンダブロック
    。
