Claims

[Claims for Utility Model Registration] (1) In a starter in which a transmission is connected between the rotating shaft of the prime mover and its output rotating shaft, large and small gears are spline-engaged so as to be able to slide back and forth on the prime mover shaft. A large gear, which is always meshingly engaged with a small gear, is rotationally coupled to an output rotating shaft via a one-way clutch, and the gear is engaged by movement of the sliding gear. A variable speed starter characterized by a small gear fixed on an output rotating shaft. (2) The variable speed starter according to claim 1, wherein a pinion moving cylinder is spline-fitted onto the output rotating shaft so as to be slidable back and forth. (3) The variable speed starter according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the sliding gear and the pinion moving cylinder are configured to be transferred and energized by a solenoid device.
