Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable an inexpensive simple construction, by a system wherein a platen is used as a releasing roller, and a part of a presser plate having a frictional coefficient lower than that of the platen is pressed against the platen by energizing it with a spring. CONSTITUTION:A presser plate having a frictional coefficient lower than that of the platen 2, for example, a rubber plate 4 is backed by a plate 3, the rubber plate 4 is movably supported on a horizontal shaft 14 by the plate 3, and the back side of the plate 3 is energized by the spring 5 to press a part of the rubber plate 4 against the platen over a predetermined angular range along the peripheral surface of the platen 2. A paper is supported by a guide 13, and the lower end thereof is set by supporting by the rubber plate 4. A cut paper 14 is inserted to the rear side of the platen 2 along a cut sheet guide 1. The cut paper clings to the platen under a frictional force between the rubber plate 4 and the platen 2. When two or more papers simultaneously cling to the platen 2, only the single paper on the platen side is separated from the other papers by the difference between the frictional coefficient on the surface of the platen 2 and that on the surface of the rubber plate 4, since the frictional force between the paper and the platen 2 is larger than that between the papers. Accordingly, only the paper closest to the surface of the platen is wound around the platen 2 to be thereby fed.

In recent years, small thermal transfer printers have been on the market for use in simple Japanese word processors, but the media used in these printers is currently mostly cut sheets of high-quality paper refined for thermal transfer. Since thermal transfer printers are inexpensive, only a sheet feeder with a simple structure that is commensurately low in price can be installed in such thermal transfer printers.

However, since the conventional sheet feeder is constructed as a separate component from the printer, it is not possible to keep the price of a thermal transfer printer incorporating the finished product low.
It has been desired to develop a sheet feeder with a simple structure and low cost.

The present invention uses the platen as a peeling roller in a thermal transfer printer in which paper is wound around the peripheral surface of the platen to give rotation to the pair of platen and blurring rollers, and the rotation feeds the paper to the printer for printing. A part of the presser plate having a smaller coefficient of friction than the platen is urged by a spring and pressed into contact with the paper feed side circumferential surface over a certain angular range, and is formed between the platen circumferential surface and the presser plate. This is a simple sheet feeder characterized by having a guide for holding a plurality of sheets of paper in a paper insertion slot.

Therefore, the present invention utilizes the high coefficient of friction of the platen of a thermal transfer printer to use the platen 2 as a peeling roller, thereby simplifying the structure of the sheet feeder. That is, in FIGS. 1 and 2, the horizontal shaft 14 is horizontally suspended parallel to the platen 2 of the thermal transfer printer, and the plate 3 is lined with a holding plate, such as a rubber plate 4, having a smaller coefficient of friction than the platen 2. A rubber plate 4 is pivotally supported on a horizontal shaft 14 by a grate 3, and the back surface of the grate 3 is biased by a spring 5 to press a part of the rubber plate 4 over a predetermined angle range on the circumferential surface of the platen. Furthermore, a belt 6.6, one end of which is fixed via springs 9, 9, is wound around the horizontal shaft 14 and suspended;
A support shaft 15 is horizontally attached to the lower end of the belt 6.6, and the support shaft 15 pivotally supports the glare shallow rough 7.7 that forms a pair with the platen 2. The belt 6.6 is pulled out and the shallow roller 7 is pressed against the circumferential surface of the platen 2 at a position rearward from the holding plate 14 by the spring force of the spring 9. Further, an idle plate 6 for guiding paper is provided between the rubber plate 4 and the pre- and shallow rough. 10 is for thermal printing, card holders 11 and 11 are installed before and after the thermal print head 100, and 12 is for moving the paper from the dotted line position to the solid line position to move the paper around the platen surface during printing. In the embodiment, the paper is held by the guide 13, and its lower end is supported by the rubber plate 4, and the paper is centered. The cut sheet 14 is inserted into the rear of the platen 2 with the cut sheet placed in the ID 1. The paper sticks to the platen due to the frictional force between the rubber plate 4 and the platen 2, but if two or more sheets of paper are bitten at the same time, the frictional force between the sheets is greater than the frictional force between the paper and the platen. Since this is large, only one sheet of paper on the platen side is separated due to the difference in the coefficient of friction between the grating surface and the comb plate surface, and only the sheet closest to the platen surface is wound around the platen and fed.

Since the sheet feeder of the present invention does not use a separation mechanism or the like, it does not require any special operation from the feeder, making it very easy to load sheets.

As explained above, the present invention takes advantage of the high frictional force of one platen of a thermal transfer printer, uses the platen itself as the peeling roller of the sheet feeder, and uses the difference in the frictional force between the presser plate and the platen to separate sheets of paper. Since the parts are peeled off one by one, the number of parts of the sheet feeder can be reduced as much as possible, which has the effect of supplying a very simple sheet feeder.
