Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a disc rotor cuttable without removing it from a car body, by installing a tool rest, capable of moving in both radial and rectangular directions of a car disc rotor, retractably in a brake disc rotor direction, in case of the above-captioned lathe for a car disc brake. CONSTITUTION:A caliper is removed from an axle holding part 30 and, after a lathe body 1 is locked to a locking device 35 with a bolt hole 1b, this locking device 35 is locked to a lock hole 30a for clamping the caliper to the axle holding part 30, with a bolt 36. Next, a feed screw 2 is rotated by hand, feeding cutting tools 22 and 23 in a center direction of a disc rotor 34, and these tools are advanced forward up to a part that comes to a minimum diameter, where a brake pad is pressed with pressure. Then, with adjusting handles 18 and 19, a tool rest (unillustrated herein) is moved, making each cutting edge of these tools 22 and 23 contact lightly with the disc rotor 34, and the tool rest is locked for cutting. With this constitution, the disc rotor is cuttable without being removed from a car body, thus improvements in operation efficiency is well promotable.
