Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration in electrodes by arranging electrodes to be kept from touching liquids while assay is not conducted in an assay apparatus for glucose, cholesterol, urea and the like in blood. CONSTITUTION:A quantification pump 31 is operated to sent a carrier liquid 29 to the sensor section 34. 100% glucose solution as the first reference liquid is poured into an injector 32 and the sensitivity of an electrode 37 for detecting material to be detected (an immobilized enzyme electrode) to glucose stored into a memory. 100% solution of an interfering substance (ascorbic acid or urea) as the second reference liquid is poured to adjust the sensitivity of the immobilized enzyme electrode 37 and an electrode 38 for detecting interfering substance and then, the sensitivities of the electrodes 37 and 38 to the interfering substance are stored into the memory. Blood to be inspected is injected, outputs of the electrodes 37 and 38 are computed with a CPU27 and then, the percentage of glucose is shown on a display 28.
