Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase discharge performance of a battery by using glassy solid containing Li2S, P2S5, LiI, and sulfide of alkaline earth metal as solid electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:In a solid electrolyte battery using lithium as negative active material, glassy solid electrolyte containing Li2S, P2O5, LiI and at least one of alkaline earth metal sulfide such as CaS or MgS is used as lithium ion conductive solid electrolyte. This solid electrolyte has high electric conductivity. For example, electric conductivity of solid electrolyte having the composition of Li2S:P2S5:LiI:CaS=23:17:50:10 is 2.9X10<-5>(S/cm) at 20 deg.C.
