Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the low temp. toughness of a hot-rolled steel sheet by maintaining the angle of intersection of the axial lines of an upper work roll and lower work roll within the horizontal plane at a specific angle or above and hot rolling the steel sheet. CONSTITUTION:The angle theta of intersection of the axial lines of an upper work roll 1 and a lower work roll 2 within the horizontal plane is made about >=0.5 deg. at which a steel sheet 3 is hot rolled in rolling-down pass for hot rolling of the sheet 3. The shearing strain in the direction at a right angle to the rolling direction is thus generated in the sheet 3 and the low temp. toughness value of the hot-rolled steel sheet is improved.
