Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the clearances of a vane type compressor and as well to aim at enhancing the efficiency of the compressor and at making the compressor lightweight, by fabricating component members for a compression chamber with the use of ceramic materials so that the expasions of the members are made uniform.
CONSTITUTION: After a rotor 11 is fabricated in a predetermined shape with the use of silicon nitride ceramic materials, the rotor 11 is secured onto a rotary shaft 12 which is beforehand prepared, with the use of a key 13 to form a rotor shaft. A silicon nitride ceramic ring 14 is pressfitted in the bore of a cast iron cylinder 15, and as well a vane 17 is made of similar ceramic materials having the same width as that of the ceramic ring 14. With this arrangement, the expansions of the members may be made uniform. Accordingly, upon setting of clearances there is no necessity of setting excessive clearances, thereby the efficiency of the rotary compressor may be enhanced and as well the compressor may be made lightweight.
