Here, the amount of roll gap and/or the peripheral speed of roll are obtained, which are required for performing a rolling so as to conform a the cross-sectional area of bar material 11 at the outlet to its target value basing on the measured value and its target value. These values are inputted to a roll gap control device 7 and/or a speed control device 5 of mill 1, to control the amount of roll gap and the peripheral speed of roll.
