Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the titled composition having remarkably improved notched impact strength keeping the balance of various physical properties, by compounding a thermoplastic polyester resin with a vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer grafted with a carboxylic acid ester.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 95W50pts.wt. of a thermoplastic polyester resin is compounded with (B) 5W50pts.wt. of a vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer grafted with a carboxylic acid ester and obtained by the graft-polymerization of (a) 10W 90(wt)% unsaturated carboxylic acid alkyl ester to (b) 90W10% vinyl acetate- ethylene copolymer having a vinyl acetate content of 50W90% and (C) 0W 10pts.wt., preferably 1W8pts.wt. of a polyepoxide compound having ≥2 epoxy groups. The unsaturated carboxylic acid alkyl ester in the component B is preferably butyl (meth)acrylate. A proper compatibility is developed between the components A and B, and the impact resistance of the resin is further improved by the addition of the component C.
