Abstract

PURPOSE: To maintain a thrust supporting force of an orbitally turning scroll stable by providing a differential-pressure maintaining valve between a high pressure chamber provided at the behind the orbitally turning scroll and a low pressure chamber communicated with an intake side.
CONSTITUTION: A high pressure chamber 12 is formed behind the orbitally turning scroll 2 of this scroll compressor. A pressure regulating valve 18 which serves to maintain a differential pressure constant is provided in a communication passage 17 which communicates said chamber with the intake side of a compression element 4. A medium pressure port 32 which is opened to the area where the pressure becomes a medium pressure in the compression stroke is communicated via a passage 26 with the back pressure chamber 23 of the pressure regulating valve. As a result, since the pressure inside the high pressure chamber can be always kept at a proper value if either a discharge pressure or an intake pressure may be varied, scroll members will be prevented from being seized with each other and being worn due to mutual friction.
