Abstract

PURPOSE: To extract object points pictures which are in corresponding relation without omission by setting a band-shaped area with a certain width on an epipolar line, by extracting object point pictures included in the area and allowing them on each picture to correspond to each other.
CONSTITUTION: An object point picture P1 on a picture 10 obtains epipolar lines l2 and l3 generated on pictures 20 and 30, and sets band-shaped areas L2 and L3 with a certain width on the lines l2 and l3. In the pictures 20 and 30, a set of object point pictures in the areas L2 and L3 are extracted as follows: first, the distance (d) between the object point picture and the line is obtained. A half of the width of the area is set to a threshold TH. In case of d≤TH, the object point picture is judged to lie within the area. Thus all object point pictures on the pictures 20 and 30 are operated in said manner, and a set of object point pictures in the areas L2 and L3 are obtained. Then a line generated on the picture 30 is obtained with respect to each object point picture in the area L2 so as to set a band-shaped area M3. Thereafter, a set of object point pictures on the picture 30 are obtained in a similar manner. The set in the area L3 is collated with that in the area M3 so that an object point picture P3 included in common in the areas L3 and M3 will be obtained, and each object point picture on each picture is extracted as a corresponding point.
