Abstract

PURPOSE: To automatically discriminate the kind of a battery, by detecting the internal resistance of the battery and outputting voltage corresponding to the value of the detected internal resistance.
CONSTITUTION: After a battery set 10 is connected to a terminal 14, a constant current sink circuit 41 induces a current IS1 by a current change-over signal SG to drop voltage and the generated terminal voltage VB1 is held to a sampling hold circuit 45 through a buffer amplifier 43 to be applied to the reversal input of an operation amplifier 42. When the constant current sink circuit 41 induces the current IS2 by a current change-over signal SG, a change-over switch 44 is changed over in synchronous relation to the current change-over signal SG. By this mechanism, terminal voltage VB2 is applied to the non-reversal input of the operation amplifier 42 by a sample hold circuit 46. An operation amplifier circuit outputs voltage VOP obtained by amplifying voltage wherein the aforementioned terminal voltage VB1 and Zener voltage VZ are subtracted from the aforementioned terminal voltage VB2. The discrimination of a primary battery and a secondary battery is performed by the level of this voltage VOP.
