Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve a color resolution by the same number of picture elememts by scanning a hue by making a color filter corresponding to a color original signal synchronize with a scanning of a scanning electrode, at the same time when the color original signal is divided on a time series and impressed from a data electrode. CONSTITUTION:Light is projected to a liquid crystal panel 13 through a light source 11 and a lens 10. A color filter 12 is arranged cylindrically around the light source 11, and the filter 12 is rotated by synchronizing with a scanning of the panel 13. Outputs X1-XN of an X driver are outputted by time-dividing a display data, and in outputs Y1-YN of a Y driver, a display data is written in a selected specified scanning line. A scan of the display data is executed from the output Y1 to YN, data of R, G and B are rewritten by synchronizing with a rotation of the filter 12, and an expression of three colors can be executed by the same picture element in a time as R, G and B. Accordingly, a color resolution can be improved by the same number of picture element as a white and black display. Also, a liquid crystal body can be used for a hue scanning of the color filter.
