振トランスの２次側に放電灯を接続してなる装置におい
て、上記放電灯の放電電極に接続される上記発振トラン
スの２次回路が、中間タップを有する２次主巻線と、こ
の中間タップに直列接続されたインピーダンスと、電源
投入後所定の時間が経過した後、上記中間タップに接続
されたインピーダンスをバイパスするスイッチング回路
−とから構成され、電源投入後所定の時間が経過するま
で、上記放電灯の放電電極間に、上記２次主巻線の中間
タップに発生する電圧がかかることを特徴とする放電灯
